Startup/Growth Marketing Consultant
I've bootstrapped a startup, and worked for bootstrapped to seed-stage to VC-funded startups. I’ve tried every marketing channel you can think of across the lifecycle of pirate metrics (Acquisition, Activation, Retention, Referral and Revenue). As a result, I have a pretty good idea on what kind of results you can expect from each marketing channel and how to make the most bang out of your buck.
I think SEO and content is at the heart of marketing. I like to start any engagement with a SEO audit, which will then inform keyword strategy (for website, social, and ad copy), content strategy (how are you currently being found, and what content will resonate most with your audience?), PR/outbound marketing strategy.
Most startuppers have read The Lean Startup. I think the same methodologies should be applied to startup marketing and growth marketing. Build experiments, test channels, messaging, audiences. Measure: track the analytics, make data-driven decisions. Learn: double down on what delivers the most ROI, scale.
The all-in-one software for CRM, email marketing (newsletters, automated lifecycle drips), sales, and more. I've used Hubspot to build landing pages with contact forms, which data is then captured into their CRM. These leads are then auto-enrolled into a relevant drip email campaign to nurture them.
I've managed 6-figures in Facebook Ads, for multiple clients. I've A/B tested ad copy, creative, and landing pages, tweaked and tested to optimize CPC, CPA, and ultimately demonstrate a closed-loop process that has strong ROI.
I am semi-technical and have built websites from scratch, but mostly work with Wordpress sites. I perform SEO and UX audits, and am able to go in and make the changes/optimizations myself.
I have a lifetime subscription to another SEO tool, which is what I use to perform SEO audits of clients' websites, as well as their competitors'. How are you doing in terms of SEO, especially when benchmarked against competitors? Are there content, keyword, and backlink opportunities we can uncover by auditing competitors' SEO?
_The_ one thing that most would have in their MarTech stack. It's free, and it gets the job done. Do you have GA setup? Do you know how many visitors your site is getting daily, weekly, monthly? We want to track this so we know if our traffic is increasing month over month, and if our marketing efforts are paying dividends. We also want to see that visitors are engaging with our site and content, and staying longer. We want to know which sources they're being directed from, etc.

I spent 3 years living and working from 25 countries. And while in a particular place, I'd do lots of research to find a book by a local author, or a movie set in that city or country. 📚🍿 Travel the World in Art aims to address that. Input a country, and we'll return an artist, a book, a movie, and a musician associated with that country. This may include both art produced in that country and art about the country. 🌏🌍🌎
I majored in Mathematics and Statistics and minored in English Literature. That translated nicely into a career in data/growth marketing, where I get to flex my analytical _and_ creative chops.
