Startup Marketing Consultant
VC funding is glamorous, but equity capital from VCs isn't always the best route. Perhaps you could explore Angels, debt capital, purpose-capital or even bootstrapping. Let's discuss. I can make intro's if needed.
Having a growth mindset means finding the opportunities for growth in everything you do. Building growth into your product or service. Identify the growth opportunity, exploit it, and repeat.
My first technical SEO role was in 2010. Since then I've worked with hundreds of brands to maximise their organic reach with a combination of technical SEO, content, and link acquisition strategies.
In my day job I work with VCs to audit the go-to-market strategies of their portfolio businesses, so I know what good looks like. I can help you identify the right marketing mix for your startup.
Producing great content is no longer good enough. You need a framework for mapping content against the buying cycle to maximise conversions. I've done this hundreds of times before and I can help you to do it, too.
My go-to heatmapping tool. Although they're soon retiring funnel visualisation, it's still an extremely powerful tool for understanding user behaviour and optimising conversions.
I've been building and optimising WordPress websites since I left university (before, even!). IMO, the best opensource CMS on the market. If you have any WordPress requirements or are unsure how to approach a WP build, I can help.
My go-to tool for keyword research, competitor analysis and content gap analysis. It really should be a staple of any growth marketer toolbox. I can help you identify the insights hidden within the data.
SEOmoz (as it used to be called) was the place where I really started to find my passion for SEO. What was a great community resource is now an accessible suite of SEO research tools.
Google Search Console. If you don't have GSC set up for your website(s), you're missing out on a whole heap of valuable data. I can show you how to make the most of it.
When the fundamentals are in place (Goal tracking, proper attribution modelling, content grouping) GA is easily one of the most powerful free tools available to any marketing. If you're going to use it, use it properly.
I've been using Ahrefs and many other technical SEO tools for well over a decade. One of my favourite platforms for competitor research and SEO performance analysis.
A fantastic tool for joined up attribution modelling, but I don't often recommend Hubspot as a stand-alone marketing suite as the costs scale so quickly. As a CRM integration, though, it can really enhance the functionality of most other platforms.
Mailchimp has become a lot more powerful than most marketers realise in recent years. I've been using Mailchimp since it was a simple drag n drop email builder and I continue to use it now as a marketing automation platform.
ActiveCampaign is one of my favourite tools for database segmentation and automation. It's a powerful growth tool in the right hands. I can show you how to build your own workflows so you can test and iterate campaigns over time.

Paddy is an amazing mentor who shared so much in those 30 minutes. Not only I got a great overview of CMO-as-a-service model but also a good understanding of my next steps. Highly recommend Paddy.
More great advice, highly recommended!
Great advice, thanks
Fantastic call with tons of value above and beyond what I initially asked for.
Super valuable session! Booked the call with Paddy to discuss content marketing and strategy and I learned more than expected. Paddy really knows his stuff and takes a custom approach to mentoring, rather than a universal approach. The best part is walking away with clear next steps and really useful frameworks that are relevant to our startup. Look forward to another session. Thank you Paddy!!!
I found meeting with Paddy truly helpful. I came with an agenda, but by the end of the call we had touched on so many more SEO areas that were pivotal for my client. We made quite a few changes in real-time even and there were several takeaways I'm implementing. You can tell that Paddy paid a little extra care before we even met which helped us make the most of our time.
This was the best mentorship experience I've had in my career so far. In only 30 minutes, Paddy helped me distill the value I bring to startups (goodbye imposter syndrome) and offered numerous resources to help me grow my marketing skills. Paddy also did something truly incredible, after only 30 minutes of speaking, he opened up his network and connected me to 12 (that's right) female leaders in tech. I can honestly say Paddy knows what he's talking about when it comes to growth marketing, AND he's just a good person to wants to see others grow. Thanks again Paddy!
Paddy is helpful and structured. He offered good insights into referral strategies for my project. Thanks for the useful Funding articles too.
Provided great advice for pre-launch growth through organic marketing and content strategies
