I help investors and founders working in healthtech/ medtech/ life sciences validate assumptions about the U.S. healthcare third-party payer ecosystem, determine how to close gaps that could stunt product uptake, or recommend alternate use cases.

Nicole Coustier
Medtech/healthtech advisor
The session with Nicole was great. She’s clearly an expert in the field. She understood the context and our situation quickly, and her advice was spot-on. I highly recommend speaking with her if you’re looking for insights into the healthcare space.
Brilliant session! Nicole had very good suggestions on our startup idea and helped us think strategically around the idea. She was very accommodative with my endless questions and her suggestions helped me significantly. We walked out of the session with a lot of notes and clarity on how to proceed with our startup idea. Thanks a lot Nicole!
Very knowledgable. She delivered on everything she offers. I was nervous about making my first app and she was able to help me release a lot of fears, apprehension and give the guidance I needed. As someone who had no clue, I came out of the meeting with a plan and confidence.
Bio
I've spent 20+ years consulting for the life sciences industry to launch scores of innovative and often disruptive medtech and biotech technologies successfully in the US. I have enjoyed working with hospitals and physicians, specialty societies and government agencies, public and private insurance health plans, sales & marketing teams and legal compliance experts, to align incentives to embrace, leverage, and scale new technology. In previous roles, I headed up busdev, client retention, customer support program design and implementation, market access initiatives, many more. We had a favorable exit for the medtech consulting firm in 2017 when it was sold to a multi-national consultancy, and since then, I have split my time between my tech advisory (where I help investors and founders validate assumptions about the U.S. healthcare ecosystem, determine how to close gaps that could stunt product uptake, and design programs to successfully commercialize products) and my executive performance coaching practice (where I teach professionals working in very demanding industries how to position themselves for thought leadership and improve decision-making in ambiguous, high-stakes situations).
Expertise
Building a team
I've built teams in growing companies from Employee #5 to Employee #500. I can advise on how to gauge whether someone will contribute to team cohesion or not, or be an energy suck, no matter how brilliant they are on paper. I am an executive coach who works with teams to optimize efficiency and effectiveness.
Customer success
Specific to the health/medtech arena, I can advise on the (dis)incentives in the US healthcare system that impact product uptake and customer adoption.
Data science
For health/medtech: I have considerable experience with the Medicare claims data and its use in product validation, policy development, clinical program design, etc.
Idea validation
I can advise on the US healthcare system, how it operates on the back end, who the stakeholders are, and why/how a product might be shot down, and what to do instead.
Mindset coaching
I'm an executive performance coach (https://aureliancoaching.com) and work with high achievers working in demanding industries, like tech and healthcare.
Product launches
I've launched many, many products in the healthcare arena. Everything from blood sugar monitors to molecular diagnostic tests to new imaging equipment to implantable devices.
Product market fit
Product market fit can be surprisingly hard in the health/medtech space. Lots of great ideas and cool innovations... and no one actually willing to try them and incorporate them. I can advise on how to narrow in on the product market fit question.
Remote work
As an executive coach, I've been helping leaders in tech and healthcare optimize performance and delivery in their remote work circumstances for many years.
User research
In the health/medtech space, you can unearth a lot from patients, doctors, hospitals, and health insurance companies! I can advise on how to structure that research with these various stakeholders.

Industries
Artificial Intelligence
Experience in AI/ML as it relates to health/medtech products and dealing with the skepticism and confusion around AI/ML. Healthcare in the US is sloooooow to take up new tech, but I can help address that.
Medical Device
I have 20 years bringing new health/medtech to market in the US. I specialize in product positioning, provider relations, and "market access" which means anything to deal with end users. [Note: I am not a regulatory (FDA) consultant.]
Professional Services
I've been a consultant for 22 years. Built up consulting firms, a successful exit, currently advise on business planning for a number of professional services firms.
