Bio
Through my PhD and launching Opply I got a good feeling for when to build scrappy and when it is worth building properly. Having mentored and coached people from early in career to senior stage and am a big advocate of diverse, international teams. Hit me up to talk about hiring, interviewing, leadership, management, growing engineers, performance management etc. As a mentor, I can help you avoid pitfalls and help you steer your work in the direction you want to go. Looking forward to connecting!
Expertise
Advice on funding
Together with my co-founder raised $8m+ from some of the world's best investors and angels. I find fundraising is more of an art than a science, and with the right product and techniques you are able to create a FOMO that let's you choose the investors yourself ;)
Building a team
At Opply we scaled the company from just the two of us to 25 people. A lot of learnings along the way, from optimal interview process (specifically on tech side) to creating an engaging and inclusive culture in a mixed remote/in-person setting. Happy to discuss!
Data science
10 years of experience in data. During my PhD I worked on self-learning machines and how processes can be optimised when limited data points are available. Knowing which data to draw conclusions from is critical when scaling a business!
Toolkit
Python
3 years of experience10+ years of Python experience, mostly in data science and for creating MVPs. In my opinion still the best language for most data/tech startups, and also my personal projects run on it ;)
Zapier
3 years of experienceOne of the best solutions out there to move quickly. Especially at the beginning it is critical to avoid spending lots of time on features and functionality that may not be used later - for quick MVPs tools like Zapier are a blessing.
