Jon was very helpful. He gave me great advice on how to achieve product market fit, how to better understand our users and how to offer them tangible value. I really appreciate the time he dedicated to understanding my business and put himself in my shoes. Thanks again Jon!
I highly recommend Jon as a mentor! He was well prepared for our call and brought a truly unique perspective from being an engineer at Google to starting his own company. Whether you're looking to climb the corporate ladder or start the SAAS company of your dreams, schedule a call with Jon! You won't regret it.
Jon was instrumental in being able to provide value by seeing our business through the eyes of a customer; he was able to quickly grasp our value proposition and provide much needed advice as a result - based on his Silicon Valley experiences. I appreciate the time he took to check out our services before our call and look forward to speaking with him again in the future. Thanks Jon, 5 stars!
👋 Howdy friend! Thanks for checking out my GrowthMentor profile! For 10+ years I lived & breathed 📱mobile.. worked on top 10 App Store apps (Google Maps, Gmail, Google search) as well as a bunch that didn't see the light of day. The pressure took it's toll finally & I followed the "burnout track" and took 6 month sabbatical (that would later turn into almost 3 years). My family & I left the bay with 8 suitcases of all our belongings, and i thought tech would only be in my rear view mirror... I exchanged the standup desks & nap pods of silicon valley to serve families in the slums of Philippines & Cambodia. To my utter surprise and delight though, these families were happier than I was. Something was missing? We came back to the mainland & I tried my hand at using tech for good, by working on the "strava for sobriety" app and it was amazing. I was finally helping ppl again! But as w/ many startups, funding fell through... I then went to help a big, well-funded startup who's goal was "tech for good", specifically in non-profit church space. I was so excited! And somehow, in the midst of "strat sums" and super fun budgets I lost my way... I actually kind of lost heart. Enter a wise mentor who asked me: "What if life wasn't a series of problems to be solved, but a story to live?" And I realized, this is what i've always resonated with.. Story... adventure... beauty.... I envision a future where you can bring your full self to work, not just a version that others expect. I realize, some of what i've been looking for is... - A Small & effective team. - 1 Super Clear mission. - Ppl always getting helped Some other core values I've found along the way: 1. Transparency & Vulnerability > Posturing & Faking 2. Take the Mission Seriously <> Do NOT take ourselves too seriously (aka. it's gotta be fun) 3. EQ > IQ 4. Team > Profits Can't wait to see what's next!
Have a MIT New Ventures Design Bootcamp Certification. Learned from alot of mistakes ( Inbox by Gmail, 10+ apps for clients that never went anywhere). At WonderAndWander.io, we help clients test out & iterate ideas as fast as possible w/ real users
As a microsoft PM early in my career, technology/coding to me was simply a means to an end - to build a great PRODUCT that ppl actually use. Great products are a delight to use. They are anchored in solving a clear pain point that i have - and other products just don't full solve it
With 15+ years of engineering experience from Google -> Startups, I love using tech/tools to make ppl's lives easier. Some ex: - building a flutter ios/android app with push notifications/onesignal, native google & apple signing, doing the entire app store/google play process, marketing, and into production in 3 weeks. (when team estimated 3-6 months)
LOVE intercom for talking directly to users, surveying them, and automating flows in the app to make sure users are actually getting the value from your product Did this first as Director of Engineering at Sober Grid, where we used the classic PMF sean ellis introduced, to make sure you have something ppl want: https://review.firstround.com/how-superhuman-built-an-engine-to-find-product-market-fit,
I actually have WAY more experience in native mobile land, SWIFT and Objective-C for iOS, Java and Kotlin for Android. Then recently dart for flutter. (but those options weren't in the drop down) ;P But i learned rails when i had to scale out our SoberGrid backend and add support for troll/spam checking (cause we were getting hit hard, with 150+ downloads a day)
I'm currently the founder of a digital product/tech agency: wonderandwander.io I also worked 2 years as an IOS engineer @ invokemedia.com (builders of hootsuite, built out 5+ ios/android apps for big clients like men's health, the onion, food network) Then lead a team of mobile engineers on NHL team apps, and Activision's Call of Duty companion apps

We help mission-driven companies amplify their impact with technology

- Built out Thryve.io's first ios/android app so church admins/staff could receive push notifications the moment members text in. (tech: used flutter wrapper, google/apple login, learned responsive web designed, one signal for push notifications) - Mobile Lead on Spaces App - Helping our team ship a great mobile app that helps people w/ personal growth

This role was all over the place, which is what i love! It required me to use every part of my brain from engineering, to internal communication, to marketing, product & customer development. The best part is that it all resulted in happier members, who were so excited that we were making changes and communicating to them! - Managed iOS, Android & Rails backend with 170k+ registered users, seeing top engaged users use the app over 10 minutes a day - Overhauled entire engineering org ( backend running in AWS + elasticbeanstalk, rails/puma/nginx , iOS/android apps on bitrise), inheriting code that was nascent for 4 months and unable to deploy, to up and running! - Built customer support team, launched help.sobergrid.com, and streamlined all communication through intercom's CRM. Grew to 80% happy customers - built out first internal wiki using Notion, got company into habbit of taking notes, documenting decisions, etc. - Hired & trained customer success engineer, Android & backend. - Oversaw 3 iOS Updates, 1 Android Update & 5 backend launches - Brought Rails backend CI tests time from 70 min to 25 min
