As part of my own learning/personal branding (and my love for writing), I enjoy knowledge-sharing and contributing thoughts to top marketing publications. I’ve had my content featured in a few places, including the likes of Business Insider Australia, Flippa, Startup Daily, Ortto, and numerous others (more to come soon too!).

Dan Siepen
Growth Marketing Consultant & Advisor (SaaS & eCommerce)
A fun session with Dan bouncing around lots of ideas about PPC ads (LinkedIn & Google), landing page design/focus and creative outreach strategies to engage leads. Thanks for a great session Dan - a great mix of quick things to try and bigger questions to ponder!
Dan helped me craft gtm strategy for my new business — and immediately I could tell that he has done his fair share of product launches. He suggested a multi-phase approach with specific milestones to achieve. I love that he offered practical steps that suit my bootstrapping budget so I can get the most bang for my buck. Looking forward to booking more calls with him. Thanks so much Dan!
Dan is awesome! I was 10 minutes late to the call (totally my fault) and he was super kind and patient. The call went really well and he gave me so much time to explain my context and reframe the blind spots I have been having. I look forward to implementing my changes and feedback
Bio
Hey there, I'm Dan 👋😊 I’ve worked with different growth stages of companies and been part of the growth journey for fast-growing eCommerce brands, bootstrap startups, and the likes of hyper-scale Series A funded startups, helping them with strategy, acquisition, activation, retention, LTV, advocacy, and ultimately drive revenue - the full funnel/CX journey. What areas can I add the most value in? You can check out some of the key areas below that I’ve got experience in, but in terms of strengths and where I can add value (and personally what I really enjoy), include; ✔️ Conversion rate optimisation (website & funnel optimisation) - we can work through bottlenecks and iron out new tactics/strategies to test, whether copy, positioning, UX, or other items. I love doing CRO, always fun! ✔️ CX journey - related to CRO website/funnel optimisation, I enjoy building out customer journey experiences, so I can always share feedback in areas you may be seeking to improve. ✔️ B2B/SaaS Growth Strategy & Demand Gen - Developed numerous strategies for SaaS & B2B companies. Can provide reviews on strategy, jam on ideas for demand gen, or share tips/thoughts across an array of channels. ✔️ Content Marketing - My main jam :) - This is a key focus area of mine, both on strategy and execution (I do a lot of my own writing too). I can share feedback, tips, and strategies across content creation, types, performance measurement/KPIs, and distribution. ✔️ Product Launches - Done a few product launches with startups I co-founded and also helped advise other startups. Got plenty of lessons to share for those that went well (and not so well). ✔️ Tools & Marketing Stack - I’ve used a lot of tools over the years across SaaS and eCommerce, so I can provide some recommendations on areas of tooling that have helped me achieve key objectives in various stages of the funnel/CX journey. Why am I on Growth Mentor, and what can you expect from me on a call? I love knowledge-sharing and enjoy the process of mentoring motivated marketers, founders, and entrepreneurs. Plus, I enjoy meeting new like-minded people who are working on some amazing products and solutions - I get a lot of inspired energy by meeting new people. 😊 In terms of mentoring engagements and calls, I view it as like starting a new relationship, so I look at things with a longer-term view. After all, there’s only so much you can achieve from one 30-minute call. Sometimes one call may be enough (depending on your needs/goals), but I’m always here to organise further calls in the future, answer follow-up questions, or provide some ideas/strategies post-call as takeaways (and things you can test out) via email/here on Growth Mentor - I’m here to help and provide value! 😊
Expertise
Bootstrapping
I’ve co-founded and built two successful startups, with both of them starting with no external funding. I know what the early grind is like, especially when you have to be resource-sensitive. I’ve got plenty of strategies and tactics that I can share that worked well for me. Had plenty of successes but also some failures (just a natural part of the process), so I can help with some thoughts on what you should focus on and avoid some of the mistakes I made.
Content marketing
Content marketing is my jam (I LOVE it), and it’s one of my favourite areas in marketing to help with SEO growth and demand generation. I’ve been developing content strategies for SaaS and B2B brands (and even doing a lot of my own writing on growth marketing, which you can see in some samples below) for years. Content marketing involves quite a few areas, such as content production, distribution, analytics, audits and optimisations, and I can share insights into strategies and tactics for each.
Conversion rate optimisation
I’ve done a ton of CRO audits and strategies, especially across SaaS and eCommerce, from overall CRO strategies to channel/funnel-specific. One of my fav areas of growth marketing as love the experiment-driven process of CRO. If you feel you’ve got a ‘leaky’ funnel or website UX that needs some work, or perhaps you need some ideas and tactics on improving particular areas of your site/store, send me a message, and I'll love to help with thoughts + strategies/tactics.
Email marketing
Email marketing to this very day (especially when it’s really firing), is one of the best-performing channels in terms of ROI and growth. In terms of how I can help, I’ve developed email marketing strategies for both eComm and SaaS and can give feedback on drip campaigns you’re running, Klaviyo flows (for eCommerce stores), specific email flows you want to improve performance on, or even needing a fresh set of ideas to consider for testing.
Go to market strategy
I’ve developed a few GTM strategies across SaaS/B2B and eCommerce, which have led to great success with awareness, user acquisition, and hitting revenue targets. From experience, developing GTM strategies can often be challenging, particularly for ‘earlier-stage’ brands ($10k MRR to even $50k+ MRR), where resources may be scarce. In terms of how I can help you, I can certainly share feedback, thoughts on strategy/share opinions on what I would be focusing on depending on your situation.
Growth marketing
Growth marketing encompasses a lot of things, and I’ve been part of a few growth environments and journeys now across a range of companies (B2B, SaaS and eCommerce). We can go through current growth challenges and bottlenecks you may be facing, brainstorm new strategies/ideas, review your existing strategy, deep dive into competitors, and more. Really depends on what you’re looking for - I love talking about growth strategy and working out problems. :)
Idea validation
I LOVE hearing about new product ideas and jamming on strategies and tactics to help bring an idea to life. Having been through the process of idea/early-stage validation for startups a few times, I can certainly share some experiences and things to keep in mind (& mistakes to avoid). Of course, idea validation doesn’t just have to be in relation to new startups/products, it can also be campaigns you may want to get ideas and validation on. Whatever you want to chat about, defs keen to hear! :)
No-code
I absolutely love everything about no-code. I’ve built a few mini side projects, commercial projects (as part of the companies I’ve worked with), and automation workflows to help with internal processes by connecting some of my favourite tools, including the likes of Webflow, Zapier, Airtable, Google Sheets, and others. Always testing new platforms out, so certainly can share experiences. In fact, I’ve written two big guides on no-code tools and why I like them. Sharing them below. :)
PPC strategies
I’ve had years of experience across Google Ads, Facebook (Meta) Ads, and LinkedIn Ads. Spent $$ millions on ads over the years across DTC/eCommerce and B2B. Worked with some decent budgets + exciting brands here in Aus and overseas, plus fast-growing SMEs and startups. I have a deep understanding of each (and opinions, haha) and can certainly share thoughts, tactics, strategies, and personal experiences across each business type (DTC, eCommerce, SaaS and B2B).
Product launches
I’ve been developing launch plans and strategies for a few years now (they’re really fun to do), particularly for seed-funded startups that have been in the pre-launch phase and even bootstrap startups (plus two startups I co-founded). For developing successful product launches, it’s about having a multi-phased approach based on growth milestones (revenue or user acquisition - or both), where focusing on quick iterations and nimbleness based on customer feedback can lead to growth momentum.
Social media
I do both organic and paid. I’ve been developing both social organic and paid social strategies/campaigns since the early stages of my growth marketing career. I can share feedback and thoughts across key components of socials, from copywriting, offers, creative, targeting, content types, and overall strategy. Particularly for LinkedIn, I can share thoughts on how a robust LinkedIn organic + paid strategy, when working together, can lead to awesome results in demand generation for target ICPs.
Technology and tools
[Check oy my SaaS Marketing Stack resource below]. I can certainly provide a ‘mini-audit’ on your existing stack whilst we’re on a call together. I can share perspectives based on my experience with tooling based on various growth-stage companies I’ve worked with, as well as business types. The most important takeaways are justifying the ‘why’ and ‘ROI’ of the tools/platforms you use as part of your stack, your channel strategies, existing performance, and the goals you want to achieve.
Venting frustration
As much as I love all things marketing and growth, and whilst it’s fun most of the time, it certainly has its time of frustration. Whether you’re a head of growth, marketing manager, or a founder, if you’re finding you’ve got a particular bottleneck that’s frustrating you or perhaps you want to chat through a challenge that you’d just love to talk through and get another perspective/opinion on, then defs get in touch, and I’d love to do my best to help. :)
Toolkit
Ahrefs
10 years of experienceAhrefs is simply amazing, and I use it pretty much daily to help with content strategy, content research and identifying opportunities, gap analysis, KW research, competitor research, site audits and Google ads research (great for identifying landing pages used by competitors).
Facebook
10 years of experienceBeen doing Facebook Ads for over 6+ years (both eCommerce and SaaS). Started doing it as part of my first business, then decided to really focus on honing my Facebook ads scaling skills by joining one of Australia’s top growth marketing agencies, which really catapulted my experience and skills. Worked on massive client accounts with big budgets - it was lots of fun! Since then been working closely with eComm and SaaS brands scaling their ad accounts for sales and lead gen.
Google Analytics
15 years of experienceAs the saying goes by the famous Peter Drucker, “You can’t manage what you can’t measure.” - Ultimately, that’s what Google Analytics is all about. I use GA daily to track and measure all paid campaigns, organic results, measure content and landing page performance, and so much more.
Google Webmaster Tools
13 years of experienceLove GSC and uncovering some amazing untapped opportunities for content optimisations and prioritising content to produce. Can’t develop effective content strategies without it.
Hotjar
11 years of experienceCertainly up there as one of my favourite CRO platforms, particularly for the video recording capabilities. Use it as part of CRO audits, reviewing funnels, and optimising key pages.
Hubspot
8 years of experienceI’ve been using Hubspot with a variety of clients for years, with a particular focus on the marketing automation suite, setting up workflows and drip campaigns. I can also share best practices around pipeline setup and reporting.
LinkedIn
12 years of experienceI’ve got many years of experience with LinkedIn organic and LinkedIn Ads. I’ve had relatively good success with LinkedIn ads, although it’s only really effective as a paid ads channel in conjunction with a strong ABM strategy or at the very least, a performing LinkedIn organic strategy. I’ve got plenty of experience with both, so I can share thoughts and ideas if you need some strategy inspiration.
Mailchimp
13 years of experienceMailchimp was the first ever email marketing platform I used, and I still use it to this very day. It’s come a long way since I first started using it 10+ years ago, and it has some amazing capabilities around automation, customer journeys and drip campaigns.
Semrush
10 years of experienceLike Ahrefs, I’ve also had years of experience with Semrush, and I love it as a tool as well. Both Ahrefs and Semrush have their strength areas, so I like to interchange between them. In many ways, it depends on what the company/client is using at the time (have to be tools agnostic anyway). Semrush is great for all the above, especially for PPC research and content analysis (gap and competitor analysis).
Zapier
9 years of experienceThe ultimate connector of pretty much everything, right? :) - I wouldn’t say I’m an absolute Zapier gun (as there are some really impressive mentors/consultants out there), but I can certainly share thoughts about marketing processes and workflows and give tips on what I would do for automation and scale. I can also share some of the workflows I personally use with Zapier.
Industries
SaaS
Worked with many SaaS startups over the years, helping them across overall growth strategy, GTM, content marketing, copywriting, funnel/landing page builds, email marketing (+other areas) - all in helping them find repeatable growth loops for scale, and helping them achieve better activation rates, increase MQLs/SQLs, increase APRU/ARPA, improve CAC, increase LTV + more. Specific industry experience with SaaS, includes - education, health, fintech, referral/COV, crypto, and HR/recruitment.
E-Commerce
I started working with my first major eCommerce client a few years back but then focused mainly on SaaS and B2B. However, just a couple of years back, I got back into helping more eCommerce brands that reached out needing assistance with growth marketing. eCommerce is a lot of fun to work on :) - In terms of specific industries with eCommerce, they include - health & beauty, supplements, floral, and education.
B2B
Similarly to SaaS, I’ve worked with numerous B2B brands here in Aus and overseas, helping them improve in all key areas of the above, particularly around aligning sales and marketing teams to work together to become growth engines (ABM, etc). I love B2B teams with demand generation, account-based marketing, sales enablement strategies, and content strategies to help reduce sales cycle times and improve conversion rates from MQLs to SQLs, as well as strategies to help turn SQLs into customers.
Experience
I write a lot about eCommerce growth marketing, including sharing growth marketing guides across various channels, sharing inspiration/examples, tips and other guides on eCommerce marketing. It’s still early stages, but I have written LOTS already, so hopefully, there’s some good reading for those in eCommerce. :)
Work with some really awesome companies here in Aus across B2B, SaaS and eCommerce. Predominately companies ranging from $100k ARR to $5mil ARR, helping them with their next phase of growth and scale. Doing a range of things with growth marketing strategy, demand generation strategy, and channel-specific strategy development leading the way, with execution focus areas across content marketing, social paid and organic, paid media, email marketing, and landing page/funnels. The main industries with the clients I work with include: Fintech Health & Beauty Supplements Education Referral/CVO Crypto HR/Recruitment B2B services You can see the types of companies I’ve worked with consulting/advisory on my site. I also write my own content when I can, which you can view within the content section on my profile, as well as find on my site. :)
Wellshare
Head of Growth & MarketingAll things Growth Marketing! Everything under the sun ;) - I worked as head of growth and marketing for an awesome healthcare startup here in Australia. Really exciting business with solid growth. Funnily enough, it was a client of mine that I decided to join FT for just over a year, helping them set up capabilities across CRM, automation, content, socials, and more. Also helped numerous health practitioner brands internally set up new funnels, campaigns, and local marketing strategies.
Cenario
Founder & MarketerThe second startup I co-founded, which we grew fairly quickly and did some great experiments with. We managed to get acquired in the early stages. :)
Growth Hackers Sydney
FounderEarlier on in my career, I wanted to connect with other like-minded marketers in Sydney and Australia, so I kicked off a community. Ended up quickly growing to over 5000+ members and running 30 events, including some amazing international (even the likes of Neil Patel) and Australian marketers. It was a lot of fun, and I learned a lot about community building and community strategy.
Coder Academy
Co-founder, Head of Partnerships & GrowthThe first business that I co-founded. Started as a small humble business/side gig which then grew very quickly to $4mil+ ARR in just a couple of years. It was my first taste of growth marketing in full-flight, being responsible for multiple touchpoints of the customer journey. Learned a lot about strategy and how community/advocacy initiatives can play such a big role in rapid brand building and helping fuel the top of the funnel. Awesome lessons and experience to help kickstart my career in growth.
