Your best friend, whether you can code or not. Link all your tools to your GTM container and solely link your GTM to all the individual tools. This way you can keep the overview and have version control as your backup. I've used it for anything from setting up events to linking tools and setting up outlier triggers and variables.
Are you planning on building more than one landing page OR one landing page with dynamic text insertion, then you need a LP builder like Instapage. I've built Instapage LP's for more than 30 companies over the past two years, mainly to land job applicants and leads. I know a thing or two on how to get most out of it and some of its pitfalls.
Single Keyword Ad Groups (SKAGs) are my best friend. If you want a non-scalable way to get a +90% impression share and compete with the big guys - SKAGs are what you're looking for. Google is all about relevancy. The more symmetry between your ad and your LP, the higher your quality score. With a SKAG you'll have one keyword per ad group, allowing you to trigger the ad ONLY if that keyword in (broad, modified broad, exact) is being searched. Add dynamic text to your LP and get that symmetry in!
With Zapier you can do magical stuff without touching the code. Set up automations that will make your live easier. Expect to pay for the tool. With Zapier you can automate simple repeatable work. Think about reporting on the outcomes of several tools or sending emails to the user (and the sales team) based on the type of company that signed up. I've used Zapier for almost anything, but mainly to automate stuff that otherwise is a manual job.
The first thing you do when you start working on something new. If you don't have it, stop reading right now and set it up. Although fancy tools will help you get a grip on your analytics, having GA as a backup for all these tools is super helpful. Either to double check data that you don't trust or to play around with reporting. Take a free GA course to get up-to-speed on how to use it.
Set up everything from funnels to cohort analyses and identify your users by stitching their sessions from before and after they sign up. I've used Mixpanel to perform several cohort analysis, figuring out what experiments led to a different behavior. By isolating cohorts you are able to either find patterns or outliers that will lead to new insights.
Set up automations to confirm subscriptions, drip campaigns and more with help of free plan in MailChimp. I've used MailChimp to set up automated messages, based on triggers by the user. Triggers based on activity, inactivity and email behavior. I set these up both through individual accounts as through my agency account. The latter is your best friend if you are using MailChimp for more than one client. It will allow you to switch between different views and help you keep your overview.
As a Growth Manager in our multidisciplinary CLV Growth team I'm working on improving our retention metrics such as 1-2nd order rate, reorder rate, # 2nd orders and more.
